Ramifie is a daily word puzzle where you build a single connected crossword using a fixed set of letters. Your goal is to use all letters exactly once, forming valid words that intersect like a crossword.
Ramifie has a fresh look and a few new ways to play:
Each change is explained in more detail in the sections below.
Each puzzle gives you a multiset (bag) of letters, between 10 and 27 letters. You must:
There can be multiple solutions. Any arrangement that follows the rules is accepted.
The daily puzzle starts with a fixed set of letters. Letters may repeat. You can rearrange them freely on the grid, but you can't add extra letters or reuse a letter twice.
Words must read left to right (across) or top to bottom (down). Diagonal words are not counted.
Every across/down word formed on the board must be a valid word in the game's dictionary. Words must be at least 3 letters long; 2-letter words are not allowed. Any common word type is allowed; nouns, verbs, adjectives, etc. No proper nouns (names, places, brands), and no abbreviations. As long as it appears in the dictionary.
❌ 2-letter words are not allowed: 'AT' is invalid because it has only 2 letters.
Your placed tiles must form one connected structure. After you place your first word, all additional letters and words must connect to the existing crossword by touching up/down/left/right, not diagonally.
✅ Connected crossword: every tile touches the main structure orthogonally (up/down/left/right).
❌ Disconnected islands: the bottom-right group is separate from the main crossword, so it violates the connectivity rule.
Tip: The easiest way to stay connected is to keep extending from existing letters and aiming for intersections.
An intersection happens when an across word and a down word share a letter in the same cell. Intersections are encouraged; many puzzles require multiple intersections to use all letters efficiently.
Example intersection: the vertical word crosses the horizontal word at the center letter.
Words are checked as you build. Tiles in valid words turn solid green. If you place letters that form a non-existing word, those tiles turn light with red stripes. The two looks differ in brightness and pattern, not only in color, so they are easy to tell apart with color blindness. Fix invalid words so every across/down word is in the dictionary.
❌ Invalid word: red tiles show letters that form a non-existing word.
The timer shows how long you have been working on the current puzzle. It pauses when the puzzle is frozen or when the info panel is open. Times are shown as MM:SS.
The Shuffle button randomizes the order of letters in the rack to help you spot new word combinations. It does not change the letters themselves.
The Clear button removes all placed letters from the board and restores your rack to the initial daily letters. Use this to restart your layout without changing the puzzle. If you clear by accident, the button turns into Undo for a few seconds; tap it to bring your board back exactly as it was.
Tap a tile to select it, and tap more tiles to add them (tap a selected tile again to remove it). Then tap an empty cell to move them there, or drag any selected tile. Board tiles keep their shape, with the top-left one landing on the cell you tap; rack letters land in a row, in the order you tapped them, so you can spell a word straight from the rack. If they do not fit, nothing moves. To send board tiles back, select them and tap the free space in the rack. Once a group has been moved, it is deselected; if a drag does not fit, the tiles snap back and stay selected so you can try another spot.
Shortcuts: press and hold a board tile to select its whole word (double-click with a mouse). With a mouse, Shift- or Cmd/Ctrl-click to add tiles, or drag a box around them. With a keyboard, use the arrow keys and Enter on the board, Delete to send the selection back to the rack, and Escape to deselect.
Ramifie can support different board sizes and puzzle lengths. The core rules remain the same: all letters must be used exactly once, all words must be valid, and everything must be one connected crossword.
A puzzle is completed when:
Once completed, the puzzle may become “frozen” (locked) so the finished grid is preserved and can be shared.
When you complete the puzzle, Ramifie can generate a shareable emoji grid that shows the shape of your crossword without revealing the letters.
Tap Share result on the results screen. On a phone it opens your share sheet so you can send it straight to a chat; on a computer it copies the result so you can paste it anywhere.
